Let's try | Infused Oils

Hey peeps!

So I've been trying to work on making my own infused oils lately to use in my handmade body products. What got me into wanting to give it a go was Pinterest and good ole YouTube. Not only is making your own oils great on your pockets, it's also wonderful knowing where your items come from. So let's get going on how I made them. I won't hold you too long. Lol

So I made two oils today but was only able to photograph one of them as I was making them.

What you'll need:

•String. Might need 2, I only used one. Rubber bands works great too.

•Air tight jar. I used a mason jar.

•A cheese cloth

•Crockpot

•Oil of your choice. But I would suggest raw coconut oil, sweet almond oil, or EVOO (cold pressed).

•Herbs to infuse. I used lemongrass and coffee today.

•Something to stir with.

•Measuring cup.

Step One

Peel off the bad parts of your lemongrass.

Once you've done that, begin to cup up your lemongrass and place in crockpot. You might have to bruise it a bit more to get its essence out. Pour about one cup of EVOO into the pot (I used a bit more). You can use how ever many (lemongrass) you would like, I used two.

Step Two

Turn your crockpot on low for 3 hours. Check here and there on you oil.

Step Three

While your oil is cooking it's time to prep. Tie your cheese cloth to your mason jar for easy straining. Before doing this make sure all containers are clean and bone dry.

Also cover your measuring cup in the cloth as well. You will be double straining.

Step Four

Once your oils have been cooking for 3 hours it's time to do a smell check and get ready to pour.

Pour your oils in the measuring cup and strain.

Step Five

Once all the oil have been strained now it's time to do it again but this time pour it into the mason jar.

Step Six

Remove cloth and close the jar. Remember to write the date on the lid and BOOOOOOOOM your done!

Hope this was helpful for everyone. Have a wonderful rest of you day! :)

Many options with Vegan!

Hello! Long time no type! I know I know you all missed me right?..... Oh wait..... I need followers first to be missed.... Dang it, oh well lol. In other news lets talk vegan.

Now I'm not by any means vegan what so ever, but lately I've been looking into a lot of vegan options (because I eat kosher now) and giving the way that pork is in almost everything now and days my only real option is vegan at times. Vegan is the only way I know for sure it doesn't contain any unclean animals in it because there are no animals products in it at all.

What I've noticed from looking up vegan recipes is that I have sooooooooo many options and it makes it so easy to cook for my love (I like to call him mr pumpkin now lol). My Mr Pumpkin is a vegetarian and everything I look for vegetarian recipes I see loads of cheese, bread, and pasta only (That's not very healthy for him). So I took to Pinterest and YouTube and notice the many opportunities vegan recipes and vlogs had to offer. There are two vegan vlogs that I really enjoy.

The 1st Vlog is "Hot For Food" I tried out their vegan hot wings (made using cauliflower) and my Mr Pumpkin loved them! Super easy and fun to make!

You can find more recipes from them here
--> http://www.hotforfoodblog.com

The 2nd Vlog, that is my absolute favorite is "Peaceful Cuisine". His videos are a work of art. He makes everything from scratch and teaches you how to make your own pasta, yogurt, tofu, and more from scratch! His lighting is absolutely beautiful and makes the food look even more yummy. I haven't tried a recipe yet because all the food he uses is organic and I simply don't have the funds but I'm very interested in giving it a go one day.

Oh and P.S.: He designed his own kitchen!
